In late June, 2006, I was chaperoning a youth trip with Wesley United Methodist Church. While talking to some of the other chaperones I noted that, statistically, some of these “good kids” on the bus would either become the victims of crime or defendants while in their teen years. As we spoke in more detail about this, the other chaperones asked if there was any way I could share that information with parents and kids. For the rest of the trip, I made notes about what I would talk about and how I might relay the information. Eventually, all those notes on the back of the itinerary for the trip translated into several days of legal research and, ultimately, became the program. The first Teenage Years 101 Program was delivered in September, 2006 to a very large audience; so large that we actually had to turn folks away. Please visit the rest of the site for more details about this exciting and informative program. |
